Hanover remains perfect in HCAC action with victory over Transylvania

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (7-1-3 overall, 3-0 HCAC) remained perfect in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening as they defeated the Pioneers of Transylvania, 2-1.

Junior Beth Cook (Goshen, Ohio) recorded her third straight multi goal game, fifth of the season, netting two goals on three shots. As a unit, Hanover recorded seven shots, five of which landed on frame.

In a very methodical game of soccer the Pioneers applied pressure early recording the first two shots of the contest. However, the Panther offense struck first as Beth Cook extended her goal streak to four straight games playing a touch pass from sophomore Lauren Rainbolt (Carmel, Ind.) in the 31st minute, 1-0.

Despite a tough save by goalkeeper senior Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) in the 45th minute, the Transylvania Pioneers were able to clean up the deflected ball for the equalizer, 1-1.

The Panthers gave the Pioneers a taste of their own medicine in the second half as Cook cleaned up a Transylvania deflected ball in the 54th minute following an impressive attempt on frame from senior Jostin Reeves (Greenwood, Ind.) en route to the win, 2-1.

Hinegardner helped secure the win in frame as she tallied one save moving to 7-1-3 overall on the season.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they welcome Manchester to the Soccer Complex. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
