LEXINGTON, Ky. – In a road contest Wednesday evening the Panthers (5-6 overall and 2-1 HCAC) ran away with a victory over the Transylvania Pioneers (1-6-3) after a goal in the final minutes of play.
Both teams seemed to be evenly matched with neither team allowing a goal on 13 combined shots in the first half, six from Hanover and seven from Transylvania.
After a scoreless opening frame, Hanover hammered the first goal in the 48
th minute made by
Louan Seveno (Vannes, France), the second goal of the season for the freshman. The goal was assisted by sophomore
Omar Dizdar (Bardstown, Ky.).
Transylvania then tried to answer back moments later with their own goal but the Hanover keeper, senior
Luciano Salemi (Indianapolis, Ind.), made a big save.
However, in the 83rd minute Transylvania took another shot on goal and this one found the back of the net tying the game at 1-1.
Shortly after in the 85th minute, Hanover's senior
Xander Ochsner (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) had a clutch goal to propel the Panthers ahead 2-1.
The Panther's defense stayed strong stifling the Pioneer's offense on their final two goal attempts to seal the win.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they play a conference opponent in Manchester University.
