LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) charted his second 30 plus point game of the season as the Panthers (16-8 overall, 12-5 HCAC) picked up a road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win on Tuesday evening at Transylvania, 85-75.
Houston charted a game-high 30 points with 13 rebounds, while teammate senior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) added a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
The Panthers dominated the Pioneers from the opening tip using a 12-2 run to claim the 12-4 lead at the 14:49 mark. The offense continued to fire on all cylinders as Houston netted a runner in the lane before draining a three pointer with just over 12 minutes to play.
Junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) pushed the lead to as many as 28-12 when he sank a three pointer with just over 11 minutes to play. However, Transylvania began to settle in as they were able to cut the first half deficit to 32-26 when Houston once again deemed clutch. Hanover entered the intermission leading 44-33.
In the second half, the two teams exchanged baskets for several minutes before junior
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) and Houston provided back-to-back blows giving HC their largest lead of the contest, 73-55. But the Pioneers refused to go quietly getting as close as 79-73 with 2:32 to play when Houston and Wininger secured the road contest win.
The Panthers return to action on Friday, Feb. 17 when they celebrate Senior Day with Mount St. Joseph. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
