Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio – Hanover (1-1 overall) dominated the second half outscoring the Quakers of Wilmington 9-0 en route to the convincing 13-3 victory.
The Blue and Red were paced in the contest by Senior
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) with a game-high 14 shots while teammate junior
Cole Finley (Louisa, Va.) added nine shots. Freshman
Colin O'Brien (Somers, Conn.) and junior
Zach Stone (Elizabethtown, Ky.) added a hat trick apiece for the Panthers.
Hanover delt the first blow of the non-conference contest at Wilmington as junior
Will Slover (Versailles, Ky.) navigated the defensive pressure finding the back of the net at the 14:16 mark. However, the Quakers found the equalizer moments later tying the contest 1-1.
Colin O'Brien broke the tie with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter as he connected with sophomore
Owen Cuniffe (Indianapolis, Ind.) for the Panther goal, 2-1. The freshman picked up his first career hat trick of the season at the 12:01 mark in the second quarter propelling Hanover on top 4-1.
Wilmington got two goals back in the frame to cut the halftime deficit to 4-3.
However, the Panther offense erupted in the second half with
Zach Stone dealing the first goal. Sophomore
Owen Parker (O'Fallon, No.) provided a strike before Meinhart made his way into the score's column. The scoring frenzy ensued as the Blue and Red blew the game wide open with seven third quarter goals, 11-3.
The final frame of action saw O'Brien deal an assist to
Cole Finley before a Parker strike propelled HC to the convincing victory.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 26 when they hit the road for Texas taking on Southwestern. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
