NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (17-10 overall) bowed out of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament as part of the semi-final round on Friday evening, falling to the no. 2 seed Anderson Ravens 72-63.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) with a team-high 17 points while teammate sophomore
Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) added 16 points.
The Panther offense quickly flexed its muscles from three-point range as junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) and junior
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) netted back-to-back blows at the 13:01 mark, 16-13. Senior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) added to the frenzy as he landed a shot from the top of the key that helped propel Hanover to the 19-16 advantage.
The Blue and Red led by as many as 25-20 in the first frame when Anderson came soaring back. The Ravens knotted the contest with 2:55 remaining before reclaiming the lead at the free-throw line.
Ty Houston got the final say as he hit a runner in the lane that sent the contest into the intermission dead locked at 32-32.
Houston carried the momentum into the second half as he was able to get to the free throw line netting three points the old fashion way. Greenamoyer added a long range dagger at the 11:12 mark before Sater pushed Hanover back on top, 49-48.
Anderson refused to be denied as they flipped the script and used a short run to claim the 63-56 advantage with just over five minutes to play. They never looked back building on the lead before claiming the HCAC Tournament advancing victory 72-63.
Hanover wrapped up the season with a 17-11 overall mark and 12-6 HCAC record advancing to their third straight HCAC Tournament Semi-final.
