Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Fourth quarter woe deems costly for Panthers in contest with Wartburg

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Hanover (0-3 overall) women's lacrosse team hit the road for Texas as part of their winter break trip taking on Wartburg Tuesday afternoon. The Blue and Red dropped the non-conference contest 15-10.

The Panthers were led by junior Taylor McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) with a team-high four goals on eight shots with seven landing on frame. Junior Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) added three goals on a team-high 14 shots.

Hanover surged ahead in the opening frame netting three straight goals with junior Katie Comer (Indianapolis, Ind.) leading the charge, 3-0. However, Wartburg responded with a three goal outburst tying the game at 3-3 with 1:28 remaining in the first.

The scoring frenzy ensued as Taylor McNally-Henriksen added her first goal of the afternoon with just seconds remaining in the opening frame.

The second quarter saw Wartburg use a five goal surge to capture the 8-4 lead. The Panthers looked to rally as Taylor and junior Mya Urba (Westfield, Ind.) delt a series of blows to cut the difference to 9-7.

Hanover would tie the contest at the 10:46 mark in the fourth quarter with Masi netting the strike. However, Wartburg deemed too much closing the contest with five straight goals to claim the non-conference win.

Freshman Marissa Bardo (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Panthers in frame picking up four saves through 60 minutes of action.

Hanover returns to action on Thursday, March 2 when they take on Southwestern University. Game time is set for 7:00 PM CST.
