HANOVER, Ind. – In front of an electric crowd, the Hanover Panthers (15-7 overall, 11-4 HCAC) dominated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin om Wednesday evening, 98-62.
Junior
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) lit up the stat sheet netting a career-high in points (35) and three-pointers (9). Senior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while teammate junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) netted 18 points. As a unit, Hanover had it raining three's, connecting for a combined 19.
The Panther student section brought the energy from the opening tip helping to propel the Blue and Red to the 11-2 advantage. Gilman wasted no time erupting the crowd as he hit a pair of back-to-back three-pointers to give HC the 20-9 lead at the 12:20 mark.
The parade of three-point shots continued with Wininger showing his range followed by a Greenamoyer dagger with 5:10 to play in the first half, 37-29. However, Gilman deemed to be the deciding factor as he again connected on a series of three-point blows the propelled the Panthers into the intermission leading 50-35.
In the second half, Wininger dealt the first long distance shot before Gilman once again had it raining three-pointers. Hanover pushed the lead to 65-40 with just under 15 to play and never looked back.
Sophomore
Kyle Crim (Manilla, Ind.) provided an old fashion three-point play when Gilman sank his ninth dagger of the evening. The rest was history as Hanover dominated the Grizzlies to move into a two-way tie for second place in the HCAC.
Hanover returns to the hardwood on Saturday, Feb. 11 when they hit the road for Manchester. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
