GEORGETOWN, Tex. – The Hanover Panthers (1-5 overall) opened play in Texas this evening, dropping a double-header to the Southwestern Pirates 5-3, 10-1.
GAME ONE
The Panthers found themselves trailing 3-0 early when sophomore
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) hit a shot to center field in the top of the fourth inning that scored senior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafyette, Ind.) from second base, 3-1. The comeback continued later in the inning as sophomore
Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) charted a RBI that pulled HC within 3-2.
However, Southwestern added a run in the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning to push the lead to 5-2.
Hanover added one final run in the top of the seventh inning as freshman
Sydnie Raisor (Campbellsburg, Ky.) connected for the RBI before Southwestern retired the side.
GAME TWO
The Pirates carried the momentum into the night cap surging ahead 6-0.
The lone Panther bright spot came in the top of the third inning as Hutchison hit a solo homerun to deep left field, 6-1.
Southwestern handled the rest tacking on four more runs en route to the victory.
Hanover returns to action on Thursday, March 3 when they take on nationally ranked Texas Lutheran. First pitch is slated for 1:00 PM CST / 2:00 PM EST.
