Box Score 2 ST. SEGUIN, Tex. – The Panthers (1-7 overall) attempted to steal game one of a doubleheader with no. 3 ranked Texas Lutheran on Thursday afternoon as part of a non-conference contest at Ed Kruse Stadium. Hanover battled to a 2-0 defeat before falling in the nightcap, 15-3.
GAME ONE
Texas Lutheran plated the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning claiming the 1-0 advantage.
Hanover tried to respond in the next half inning as sophomore
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) singled down the left field line, but the excitement was short lived as the Bulldogs retired the side on the next at-bat.
Texas Lutheran plated what would become the game's final run in the bottom of the third inning with a solo homerun to right field, 2-0.
Hanover made one final push in the top of the fifth inning as sophomore
Carson Bennett (Batesville, Ind.) singled to left field. Senior
Lexi Garloch (Salem, Ind.) looked to plate the run but ultimately fell unsuccessful as the Bulldogs retired the side and secured the win.
Beaman got the start in the circle pitching a complete game scattering seven hits over six complete innings.
GAME TWO
After a hefty first inning of scoring by the Bulldogs the Panthers looked to ignite their offense. Senior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafyette, Ind.) added the team's first RBI in the top of the third inning with a shot she ripped back up the middle that scored sophomore
Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.), 15-1.
Freshman
Cadence Northern (Jeffersonville, Ind.) plated the second Panther run following a Bulldog mishap when sophomore
Dani Steward 9Shelbyville, Ind.) singled to left field adding the Panthers final run, 15-3.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, March 3 when they take on Trinity (Texas). First pitch is slated for 1:00 PM CST / 2:00 PM EST.
