WILMORE, Ky. – Hanover (7-13 overall) swept the Eagles of Asbury on Tuesday evening in non-conference action as both sophomore
Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.) and sophomore
Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) charted homeruns. Hanover took game one 12-1 before claiming the series sweep 12-5.
Sophomore
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) was clutch in the circle for the Panthers as she picked up the game one win, throwing a complete game with seven strikeouts. She added a save in game two with three complete innings of work.
GAME ONE
The Panthers pounced onto the scoreboard in the top of the first inning as senior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) singled before sophomore
Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) executed a sacrifice bunt that propelled HC on top 1-0. They added another run later in the inning off the bat of freshman
Sydnie Raisor (Campbellsburg, Ky.).
Hutchison picked up her first RBI of the contest in the top of the second inning with a double to right field scoring sophomore
Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.), 3-0.
Asbury responded in the next half inning plating what would become their only run to cut the difference to 3-1.
Hanover tacked on an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning before blowing the game wide open in the top of the sixth inning. Hutchison charted an RBI on a deep ball to center field before Kruse singled through the right side scoring Hutchison. The final run of the inning came from a Raisor RBI, 7-1.
The Panthers tacked on five more runs in the top of the seventh inning on five hits. Freshman
Cadence Northern (Jeffersonville, Ind.) opened the inning with an RBI double before Fultz added another run on an Asbury mishap.
Senior
Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) and Kruse closed out the contest both recording RBI to propel HC to the 12-1 victory.
GAME TWO
The Blue and Red scored two runs in the top of the first inning as Kruse picked up her second homerun in under a week to push HC on top 2-0.
The hitting frenzy continued in the second inning for the Panthers as Hutchison and Bradley both recorded RBI to give Hanover the 4-0 advantage.
They added an insurance run on their next at-bat pushing the difference to 5-1.
The Panther attack erupted in the top of the third inning as Fultz connected for her second homerun of the 2023 season plating three runs to help guide Hanover to the 8-1 lead.
Asbury cut the difference to as little as 8-5 when Hanover was able to retire the side and secure the win with a huge four run sixth inning.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, March 26 when they welcome Augustana to Kops-Bedel Stadium. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
