LEXINGTON, Ky. – Despite a late game surge, Hanover (15-21 overall, 7-7 HCAC) fell to no. 22 ranked Transylvania in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The Panthers dropped game one 4-3 before surrendering game two 2-1.
GAME ONE
The Panthers jumped on the board in the top of the first inning capitalizing on a Transylvania mishap. Freshman
Sydnie Raisor (Campbellsburg, Ky.) provided the clutch RBi as she singles through the right side scoring senior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.), 1-0.
The Pioneers flipped the script in the bottom of the second inning plating two runs on one hit for the 2-1 advantage.
The Blue and Red continued to have battle reclaiming the lead in the top of the third inning with sophomore
Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) flexing her muscles. The sophomore singled to left field scoring senior
Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) and sophomore
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.), 3-2.
However, Transylvania got the final say using a two run third inning to claim the 4-3 victory.
Beaman got the start in the circle pitching six complete innings with two strikeouts on 30 batters faced.
GAME TWO
The Pioneers claimed game two by a score of 2-1 with their only runs coming in the first inning. Transylvania forced a Panther hiccup that ultimately resulted in the 2-0 lead.
However, Hanover battled for much of the contest at the dish being held hitless until the top of the seventh inning. Bradley provided the no-hitter break-up as she singled before Beaman provided the lone Hanover RBI, 2-1.
The Blue and Red return to action on Wednesday, May 3 when they host Franklin as part of their regular season finale. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
