Men's Lacrosse claims three HCLC marquee honorees

CARMEL, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers headlined the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference marque awards claiming Offensive Athlete of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Coach of the Year.

Jeff Roberts picked up the Coach of the Year honor after leading the program to a 7-7 overall mark and a 4-0 HCLC record as well as the north no. 1 seed. 
 
Senior Dirk Meinhart claimed Offensive Athlete of the Year as well as first team honors appearing in all 14 games with 18 goals. He dished out 26 assists and fired a team-high 115 shots. Meinhart collected a team-high 44 points this season propelling him over the 100 career point threshold. He lead the HCLC in assists per game (1.86) and ranked fourth in shots per game (8.21).
 
Freshman Colin O'Brien was pegged Newcomer of the Year and a second team member starting 13 of the 14 total games. He led the team with 35 goals while dishing out seven assists. O'Brien collected 42 total points with 99 shots, 64 of which landed on frame. Colin ranks fourth in the HCLC in goals per game (2.50) and ninth in points per game (3.00).
 
Sophomore Scott Dues (Louisville, Ky.), junior Lance Guttormson (West Bend, Wis.), sophomore Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.), and junior Will Slover (Versailles, Ky.) also claimed first team honors.
 
Dues played 13 games for the Panthers with 31 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. He added 11 shots with seven landing on frame. Scott added two goals while dishing out a pair of helpers.
 
In frame, Guttormson started 10 games making 13 combined appearances. He logged just shy of 500 minutes in frame with 142 saves. The junior posted a strong 7.97 goals against average and 68.3 save percentage.
 
Kleinhelter appeared in all 14 games for the Blue and Red with 31 goals and eight assists for a combined 39 points. He tallied 96 shots with 60 of them landing on frame. He added 24 ground balls with eight caused turnovers.
 
Slover was a key member of the Panther defense with 46 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers. The junior added two goals and an assist for eight total points.
 
Hanover returns to action on Friday, April 28 when they host Southwestern as part of the HCLC Tournament at Alumni Stadium. Face-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
