Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Hanover (2-1-1 overall) women's soccer team hit the road on Sunday afternoon taking on division I foe Indiana at Jerry Yeagley Field. The Panthers dropped the hard-fought battle 6-0.
Senior
Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) played a stellar contest in frame, tallying a game-high eight saves.
The Hoosiers netted the game's first goal in the 16
th minute following an impressive save by HInegardner. The senior goalkeeper deflected a shot that the Panther defense failed to clear.
Indiana tacked on their second goal in the 21
st minute using a corner kick to extend the difference to 2-0.
The final first half strike came in the 41
st minute as the Hoosiers entered the intermission with the 3-0 advantage.
The Panther offense went on the attack in the second half as they looked to find their first goal of the afternoon. Junior
Beth Cook (Goshen, Ohio) charted the shot as she navigated the Hoosier defense but ultimately fell empty handed.
IU continued to apply pressure picking up three second half goals.
Sophomore
Emma Patterson (Owensboro, Ky.) entered frame in the second half making a huge jump save in the 63rd minute. The Blue and Red got one final look at frame following a corner kick that saw the Hoosiers deny the threat.
However, despite a strong defensive effort, the Panthers surrendered the contest 6-0.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 13 when they welcome Brescia to the Soccer Complex. Game time is set for 5:00 PM.
