HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers return to the gridiron this weekend as they head north for Olivet College. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
SEASON OPENER
The Panthers claimed a season-opening victory at Centre on Saturday, Sept. 2, winning the contest 10-7. The victory snapped a nine game losing streak to the Colonels.
Leading the Panthers was junior
Pedro Paixao (Serra, Brazil) who connected for a 32-yard field goal prior to halftime propelling Hanover past Centre. For his efforts, Paixao was named the week one Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference special team's player of the week.
LAST MEETING
The last meeting between Hanover and Olivet came in 2022 with the Comets claiming the 31-28 win. The Panthers were paced by junior
Austin Oppel (Brandenburg, Ky.) with 35 yards rushing on 15 attempts. He also added one touchdown.
Defensively, senior
Justin Williamson (Macon, Ga.) turned in an impressive afternoon charting 11 total tackles with six solo stops.
OLIVET IN 2023
The weekend match-up marks the third of the season for Olivet who enters 1-1 overall. The Comets opened the season defeating Franklin 35-32 before falling to Wooster 24-22. Olivet is led this season by quarterback, Thomas Foust with 252 total yards and two touchdowns. Foust is averaging 126.0 yards per game through the air while rushing for 122.5 yards per contest.
Ricky Williamson is leading the defense with 12 total tackles, including one sack.
