Panthers drop 1-0 decision at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Hanover men's soccer team (2-4 overall) hit the road for non-conference action at Wilmington on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Quakers 1-0.
 
Senior Luciano Salemi (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Panthers in frame with four saves on five shots faced. As a unit, Hanover added five combined shots, three of which landed on frame.
 
Wilmington surged ahead early in the first half as they were able to navigate the Panther backline in the 20th minute for the go-ahead strike.
 
The Blue and Red looked to find an equalizer right before halftime firing a shot in the 40th minute that was denied by the Quaker keeper.
 
The Panthers final attempt on frame came in the 77th minute with a shot that missed just wide.
 
The Quakers finished with a game-high 15 shots en route to the 1-0 win.
 
Hanover returns to action on Monday, Sept. 18 when they welcome Wabash as part of their home opener. Game time is set for 5:00 PM.
