Football remains perfect with win over Trine

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (3-0 overall) remained perfect as they defeated Trine on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium, 38-14.
 
 Hanover recorded 549 total yards of offense with senior Kolton Richards (Kissimmee, Fla.) leading the charge. The senior signal caller threw for 412-yards and four touchdowns. Senior Hunter Eads (Batavia, Ohio) recorded 149-yards receiving with two touchdowns while junior Blake Huffman (Columbus, Ind.) rushed for two scores.
 
The Panthers struck first traveling 80-yards on nine plays with 9:14 to play in the opening quarter. Junior Pedro Paixao (Serra, Brazil) setup the go-ahead score as he connected for a 15-yard field goal, 3-0.
 
The Blue and Red tacked on another score early in the second frame as Kolton Richards found sophomore Michael Gordon (Nashville, Tenn.) for a 15-yard pass and score. The play capped a 10 play 90-yard drive. Blake Huffman was the work horse on the drive charting a pair of 18-yard runs with the second one landing Hanover inside the Trine 35-yard line.
 
Hanover continued to be all gas in the second half as Richards hit the homerun ball finding Hunter Eads for a 40-yard hookup and score. The touchdown pushed the Panther lead to 17-7.
 
Eads found the endzone one more time as he opened a fourth quarter scoring frenzy for Hanover. The senior picked up his largest reception of the afternoon streaking down the field for a 73-yard touchdown, 24-14.
 
Huffman handled the rest finding the endzone for the team's final two scores. His first trip came at the 9:27 mark breaking through the Thunder secondary for a 26-yard scamper, 31-14.
 
The final blow came with just 7:10 remaining as the junior broke several tackles on his way to the goal line, 38-14.
 
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they welcome Defiance to Alumni Stadium. Game time is set for 1:30 PM.
