Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – Late game run leads Hanover (10-5 overall, 6-2 HCAC) to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Bluffton on Saturday afternoon, 83-78.
The Panthers landed three in double figures led by senior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) with a team-high 26 points. Fifth year senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky. ) added 22 points while junior
Michael Donoho (Rockport, Ind.) netted 11 points.
The first half developed into a back-and-forth battle as both teams were able to find offensive success. In the first 10 minutes of action the largest lead by either team was four points. However, Bluffton was able to find some momentum claiming the 22-16 advantage with 8:56 to play.
Greenamoyer responded for the Blue and Red connecting from three-point to halt the surge. But the Bluffton attack fired on all cylinders extending their advantage to as many as 34-26. Hanover remained poise slowly chipping at the difference when Donoho old fashion three-point play tied the contest. The Panthers entered the intermission locked at 36-36.
The battled ensued in the second half with both teams refusing to give an edge. The difference maker for the Panthers appeared to be Greenamoyer as he was able to get to the rim and give Hanover the 42-39 lead. Donoho delivered a clutch corner three-pointer before getting a tip in at the 14:10 mark to extend the Panther advantage.
The Beavers refused to be tamed responding with a slim run that saw them flip the script back in their favor. However, Hanover was able to weather the attack as a three-pointer by Houston with 1:08 to play was just enough to secure the HCAC home victory.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 17 when they travel to HCAC rival Franklin. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
