Hanover falls in HCAC road test

Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – Hanover (12-8 overall, 8-5 HCAC) dropped a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road test at Transylvania on Wednesday evening, 87-64.

Hanover found themselves trailing 10-3 in the early moments of a tough road test. However, the offense settled in as freshman CJ Walls (Louisville, Ky.) was able to hit a jumper at the 11:50 mark that cut the difference to 14-12. Hanover continued to pounce as senior Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) finally flipped the script with back-to-back three-pointers that gave HC the 20-17 advantage.

Much like the first meeting, the two teams continued to exchange buckets when a Walls' 5-0 outburst gave Hanover the 33-29 lead. However, the Pioneers responded with an 11-0 run that propelled them into the intermission with the 40-33 lead.

The second half would see Transylvania extended their difference using the long range ball to capture a 64-47 lead at the midway point. Senior Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) looked to spark the Hanover attack with back-to-back scores, but the Pioneers refused to be denied out scoring HC 47-31 in the final frame for the 87-64 victory.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they host Manchester for Alumni Day. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
