Balanced scoring propels Hanover past Manchester

Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Hanover (9-4 overall, 5-1 HCAC) landed nine in the scores column as they shot past Manchester in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action winning the contest 83-73.

Four Panthers finished in double figures paced by senior Ty Houston (Union, Ky.)  with a team-high 18 points. Junior Coleman Sater (Elletsville, Ind.) recorded 16 points, while freshman CJ Walls (Louisville, Ky.) added 13 points and junior Kyle Crim (Manilla, Ind.) netted 10 points.

The Panthers and Spartans of Manchester matched up well in the first half as both teams exchanged scores. Hanover found success from three-point while the Spartans used success in the lane. Despite the early points from deep, Hanover found themselves trailing midway through the half.

Sater looked to spark the offense using a floater on the baseline to flip the contest in favor of the Panthers. However, the Spartans continued to pound the paint as they were able to push the difference to as many as 37-29 with 1:52 remaining. Crim appeared to be the hot hand for Hanover as he finished with 10 first half points to help guide HC into the intermission trailing just 39-36.

Halftime adjustments saw Hanover crank up the intensity in the second half using it to fuel their offense. The Panthers were able to claim the lead with an 11-2 run capped by a Houston three-pointer at the 15:24 point, 49-41.

The lead reached double figures at the 10:03 mark as Walls cashed in on an old fashion three-point play to give Hanover the largest lead to date, 61-49. Freshman William Herald (Fort Thomas, Ky.)  helped secure the momentum as he hit a three-pointer before a pair of Houston free throws extended the advantage.

The surge appeared to be just enough as Hanover was able to put a bow on the road victory 83-73.

Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 10 when they host HCAC foe Transylvania. Game time is slated for 7:30 PM.
