Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Panthers (8-5, 6-0 HCAC) dominated the first half of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Manchester, winning the contest 82-46.
Hanover was led on the afternoon by junior
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) with a game-high 20 points. Junior
Kady Clancy (Scottsburg, Ind.) netted a career-high 18 points while sophomore
Kaitlyn Lorenzi (Brentwood, Tenn.) added 11 points.
The Panthers remained red hot in HCAC action surging out front in the opening quarter 14-1 following the hot hand of Benter. The junior recorded eight straight points over a minute span. With all the momentum, junior
Grace Bezold (Covington, Ky.) and freshman
Sammy Berman (Independence, Ky.) made their ways into the scoring column helping to propel HC into the second quarter with the commanding 22-6 advantage.
The second frame saw Hanover push the tempo even further with sophomore
Kylah Lawson (Columbus, Ind.) hitting a layup before a Bezold pair of free throws sent the Panthers into the intermission with the 41-19 lead. Benter led the attack in the first half with 14 first half points and four rebounds.
Clancy carried the excitement into the second half as she reported the first five points of the third frame to push the Blue and Red difference to 46-23. Lawson dominated in the paint claiming a foul that sent her to the free throw line and propelling Hanover into the final quarter leading 59-31.
The final quarter saw Hanover rain down from three-point as Lorenzi connected for three deep shots pushing the Hanover difference to 82-44. The rest was history with Hanover claiming the 82-46 win.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 10 when they travel to no. 2 ranked Transylvania. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
