Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers competed as part of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening falling in the Quarterfinals at Earlham in straight sets 3-0 (25-10, 31-29, 25-10).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Junior
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) led the Panthers with seven kills on 28 attempts with six digs.
Sophomore
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior
Maddie Robertson (Mitchell, Ind.) both tallied six kills. McCoy also added nine digs.
Sophomore
Megan Vogel (North Vernon, Ind.) dished out 12 assists while picking up five digs.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Panthers opened the HCAC Tournament a little sluggish as Earlham captured an 8-3 difference off a 5-0 run. Robertson recorded a kill that halted the surge but the Quakers were determined to defend their home court claiming the commanding 25-10 win.
Set two saw Hanover erupt as they found a rhythm. Trailing 14-11, Mays led a strong run from the service line that knotted the contest 14-14. The momentum continued to shift in favor of the visiting Panthers, who tied the game once more at 24-24 following an Earlham mishap. But the Quakers combated the attack holding on for the 31-29 victory.
The final set belonged to Earlham using a 8-0 run to claim the 22-9 lead. The Quakers surrendered one final point to the Blue and Red en route to the straight-set victory.
Hanover concluded their season at 21-8 overall bowing out of the HCAC Tournament in the Quarterfinal.
