Cincinnati, OH - Yesterday the Hanover College women's soccer team competed in the HCAC tournament semi-finals at Mt. St. Joseph University.
The match went scoreless in the first half despite 11 total shots being taken between the two sides. Both goalies made a pair of saves, marking Panther junior goalkeeper
Emma Patterson's 46th & 47th saves of the 2024 season.
In the second period the game remained competitive up and down the field. HC was able to increase their shot attempts, taking 7 total shots and putting 5 on frame, but ultimately couldn't find a way to beat the keeper.
Nearing the end, the Lions of MSJ found an opportunity and took a one-goal lead with just thirteen minutes left in regulation. This would go on to be the game-winning goal, and the final game of the 2024 season for the Panthers.
Hanover finished the season with an overall record of 12-6-0, and a conference record of 6-3-0. The Panthers were able to tally 54 goals (3 GPG Avg.), 43 assists, 56 saves, and only allowed 19 goals all year.
Finally, congratulations to the team and coaching staff on an incredible season, and a huge congratulations to the seniors for an unforgettable career - not everyone finishes, let alone has a college sports career. You all did, and that's forever special.
