Westerville, OH - The Panthers battled in day two of the Otterbein Classic against tournament host, Otterbein University.
The first half of action was a struggle as HC couldn't seem to match the pace of the Cardinals. Hanover held their opponent to a relatively low shootinger percentage from the field during the first, however Otterbein's 46% shooting from distance would inevitably propel them ahead. After twenty-minutes of play the Panthers trailed by nine heading into the break.
In the second half, the Panthers were able to slow down the Cardinals offense just a bit - but struggles of their own would continue and ultimately keep them from reaching their end goal. Hanover fell 69-82 to Otterbein after forty-minutes.
Despite their short-coming as a team, the Panthers still left with something to celebrate as freshman Malchi McNair earned the Smokey Ballenger All-Tournament Team award. McNair lead the Panthers in scoring in both games of the tournament as well as total rebounds through the tournament. McNair has been a dominant force for HC as a freshman, averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds a game in sixteen-minutes (average) of play. Malachi recorded his second highest single-game point total in today's game, finishing and leading the Panthers with 19 points.
