Box Score DEFIANCE, Ind. – The Panthers (15-8 overall, 11-5 HCAC) erased a first half double digit deficit en route to the 85-58 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road win at Defiance.
Hanover finished with six in double figures led by junior
Michael Donoho (Rockport, Ind.) with a perfect mark from the floor, combining for 14 points. Senior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) netted 14 points while junior
Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) added 13 points.
Defiance defended their home court early as they came out the gate red hot. The Yellow Jackets claimed the 19-9 lead midway through the frame on 63 percent shooting from the floor. The hot streak ensued as they were able to push the advantage to 24-13 at the 9:36 mark.
However, Hanover looked to weather the storm using their defense to keep the contest within striking distance. Freshman
Cam Freeman (Indianapolis, Ind.) paced the comeback charge as he helped spark a short run that pulled them within 24-17. Hanover finally flipped the script with a 9-0 run that saw them claim the 33-28 halftime lead. Houston led the Panthers with eight first half points and five rebounds.
Second half remained a battle for the Panthers as Defiance was able to keep the contest competitive. But Donoho and Houston provided back-to-back blows that pushed the Panther lead to their largest to date, 54-41. The offense continued to fire on all cylinders shooting past Defiance for the HCAC road win.
Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, Feb.13 when they host Anderson. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
