HANOVER, Ind . – The Panthers (0-1 overall) opened their 2024 campaign on Saturday afternoon with non-conference opponent Centre. Hanover dropped the contest 23-2.
The Panthers were led in the contest by the goalie duo of sophomore
Marissa Bardo (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman
Emma Williams (Crestwood, Ky.) combining for 23 saves.
Hanover found themselves on the wrong side of a 4-0 deficit at the 11:31 mark when senior
Taylor McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) found the back of the net.
The senior scored the Panthers lone first half strike at the 9:14 mark pulling HC within 4-1. However, the Colonels added 12 more goals for the 15-1 halftime lead. Hanover finished the first half with four shots while sophomore
Marissa Bardo added a game-high 11 saves.
The second half saw Hanover look to get pressure on frame as senior My Urba (Westfield, Ind.) was able to get a pair of early looks that fell empty handed. Centre closed out the third frame netting four additional goals.
Hanover finished the afternoon with 10 total shots as Taylor led the way with two goals after finding the back of the net in the final minute of play.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 when they host Bethel. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
