HANOVER, Ind. – Second half woes doom costly for the Panthers (0-2 overall) as they dropped a non-conference contest with Bethel on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium, 17-7.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) with a team-high eight shots and three goals. Senior
Taylor McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) added four shot attempts with three goals.
The Panthers dominated the first period as they were able to capture the 3-1 advantage. The duo of Taylor and
Masi McNally-Henriksen paced the surge with back-to-back blows for the 2-0 advantage. Masi added the final blow of the period at the 4:39 mark giving HC the 3-1 lead.
However, Bethel responded in the second period as they were able to tie the score 4-4 when freshman
Hannah Wagner (Cincinnati, Ohio) netted her first career attempt at the 8:56 mark. The Pilots remained on the attack using a pair of strikes for the 8-6 difference. Hanover concluded the first half with 11 shots led by Masi with six attempts.
Behtel extended their lead in the third frame as they were able to find the back of the net at the 9:55 point, 9-6. Taylor responded for the Blue and Red as she used some fancy footwork to cut the difference to 9-7 before two more Pilot strikes.
Bethel owned the fourth quarter as they were able to added six additional goals en route to the 17-7 win.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 24 when they host Huntingdon. Draw control is set for 11:00 AM.
