Planck paces Panthers in split with Earlham

HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (7-19 overall, 2-4 HCAC) earned a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference split on Saturday afternoon winning game one 4-1 and surrendering game two 6-3.

GAME ONE
IN THE CIRCLE

Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) pitched a fantastic game for the Panthers as she held Earlham hitless for four complete innings. She finished the contest with three strikeouts.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

Hanover jumped on the score board in the top of the first inning as freshman Olivia Planck (Lexington, Ky.) dealt the RBI double scoring Beaman, 1-0.

The Panthers plated a trio of insurance runs in the fifth inning as Planck added her second RBI before a junior Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) RBI double pushed HC to the 4-1 victory.

GAME TWO
IN THE CIRCLE

Freshman Rylin Huddleston (Seymour, Ind.) got the game two start pitching four complete innings before surrendering the ball.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

Much like game one, Hanover surged ahead in the bottom of the first inning as freshman LauRie Harmless (Coatesville, Ind.) doubled to left center plating two runs, 2-0.

The Panthers added another run in the third inning as Kruse hit a no doubt home run to left center, 3-0.

But Earlham erupted in the top of the sixth inning scoring five runs on a pair of Hanover hiccups, 5-3.
