HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (8-22 overall, 3-7 HCAC) battled to an HCAC split surrendering game one 3-1 before taking game two 8-7.
GAME ONE
IN THE CIRCLE
Junior
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start in game one pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts. She allowed just two earned runs on six hits.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Defiance secured the early 2-0 lead as they homered to left center in the top of the sixth inning.
Hanover looked to respond in the bottom half of the inning as junior
Alex Miller (Miamisburg, Ohio) collected the RBI with a double to right center, 2-1.
However, the Yellow Jackets got the final say adding an insurance run in the seventh inning, 3-1.
GAME TWO
IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman
Rylin Huddleston (Seymour, Ind.) claimed the game two win as she pitched six and a third innings with three strikeouts.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Panthers found themselves on the wrong end of a 5-0 deficit early but quickly went to work at the dish. Leading the charge was junior
Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) in the bottom of the first inning as she doubled to left field, 5-3.
Hanover continued to surge as Kruse added a homer in the third inning before junior
Mal Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.) went yard flipping the script, 6-5.
The Blue and Red added what would be the game winning run in the sixth inning following a triple by freshman
Olivia Planck (Lexington, Ky.), 8-7.
Hanover returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 23 when they welcome Transylvania to Kops-Bedel Stadium.
