Defensive struggles doom costly for Panthers

HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (8-24 overall, 3-9 HCAC) found themselves plagued defensively surrendering a doubleheader to the Pioneers of Transylvania. The Panthers dropped game one 4-1 before falling in the night cap, 9-0.
 
GAME ONE
PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Pioneers were able to break the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning as a Panther hiccup plated the first run of the afternoon, 1-0.
 
They extended their lead in the fourth inning scoring a pair of insurance runs off four hits before scoring their final run in the seventh inning, 4-0.
 
Hanover got one run back in the seventh inning as freshman LauRie Harmless (Coatesville, Ind.) delt the RBI.
 
IN THE CIRCLE
Junior Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the call pitching a complete game allowing just three runs on nine hits.
 
GAME TWO

Hanover found themselves plagued with errors in game two surrendering just three earned runs on eight hits.
 
The big inning came in the second inning when the Pioneers hung eight runs en route to the shutout win.
 
IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman Avery Southern (Mitchell, Ind.) pitched relief throwing four complete innings allowing just three hits.
 
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 27 when they host Anderson. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
