GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers competed as part of the DePauw Invite this past weekend hosted by the DePauw University Tigers.
Freshman
Sebastian Vogel (Rottenburg, Germany) competed at no. 4 singles dropping his first match to Rose-Hulman 3-6, 6-4, 9-11 before bouncing back to win his second singles match 6-4, 7-5 over Anderson.
At no. 6 singles, junior
Ilya Gromochenko (Tucson, Ariz.) battled DePauw in his opening contest falling 3-6, 1-6 before rallying to win his second set 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.
Freshman
Chase Richardson (Sellersburg, Ind.) rounded out singles play taking on ONU in his first match-up dropping the contest 4-6, 5-7 before surrendering a tough set two.
The doubles team of Vogel and freshman
Jake Fascione (Poole, United Kingdom of Great Britian) took on Rose-Hulman dropping a tiebreak match 7-8 (4-7) before battling Anderson in match two.
The no. 3 doubles team of junior
Alberto Castillo (Pozuelo De Alarcon, Spain) and Richardson took on host DePauw before rounding out the afternoon Concordia. The team fell to Concordia 8-4 and DePauw 8-2.
The lone Panther doubles victory came at no. 4 as the team of Gromochenko and freshman
Holden Nagy (Linton, Ind.) knocked off Concordia 8-2.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, Sept. 13 when they host Johnson University-Tennessee.
