Crawfordsville, IN - The Hanover Panthers mens soccer team went on the road to take on the Little Giants of Wabash College. HC went into this contest with a record of 1-3-2, win-less since their first match, against a Wabash team that was 5-0.
The Panthers were desperate for a win this week as they'd be struggling to get things going in their last five games, and another draw just wasn't going to be enough for this team. They played scrappy and more importantly, they played together, the entire evening.
The defensive unit for HC would go on to be the stars of the show in this low scoring match. Fifth-year back
Clayton Anderson played all ninety minutes of the contest, and helped lead the Hanover defensive unit with his poise and his selfless efforts, sliding to and contesting every ball in his vicinity.
The game would be decided early on in the second half when junior back
Patricio Campos played a beautiful ball from a 23-yard free kick, and sophomore back
Andrew Beck leaped over everyone to head the ball in for his first goal of the season, also marking Patricio's fourth assist on the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Ben Howard saw all ninety minutes of action tonight for HC while stating one save, ensuring the Panthers went home with a 1-0 W over the Little Giants.
The Panthers are home this Saturday, September 21st, vs Asbury University. Kickoff is set for 3:30PM EST.
