Panthers Fall on the Road to The Cardinals

Naperville, IL - The Panthers, after a three-game winning streak, fall back to earth in a tough uphill battle against the Cardinals of North Central College.

The match got off to a hot start as North Central's Kassandra Salviola found teammate Sarah Andrey for an early goal just under a minute in. The Cardinals stayed aggressive in their approach, netting two more goals at the feet of Elle Sutter by the ninth minute.

The Panthers were able to rally midway thru the first period of play as senior forward Beth Cook buried her third goal of the 2024 campaign on a penalty kick after a foul inside the box by NC. Hanover did another goal later into the period, now trailing 4-1 with fifteen minutes left to play in the half.

Starting Panther goalkeeper Emma Patterson would close the rest of the half with good composition, tallying 6 total saves on seventeen total shots [allowed].

The second period of play was much closer in contest, but ultimately HC was still outscored 2-1, and went on to fall 6-2 to the NCC Cardinals.

Some highlights for the Panthers in the second half included freshman goalkeeper Phoebe Ramsey stating 3 saves, and fifth-year forward Bri Matis scoring one late for her second of the year.

Hanover will have thru the weekend to rejuvenate and regroup before their next contest; which is home vs Spaulding on Tuesday, September 21st at 5:00PM EST.
