Panthers dominate Olivet in 56-14 win

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (1-2 overall) put on a clinic on Saturday afternoon routing the Comets of Olivet 56-14.
 
Hanover finished with an impressive 473 total yards of offense and seven touchdowns. Defensively, the Blue and Red held Olivet to 153 yards of offense just 63 passing yards.
 
Sophomore Eian Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) dominated under center with 255 yards through the air and five touchdowns. Sophomore Curbrian Shelby (Indianapolis, Ind.) appeared to be his top receiver tallying two touchdowns on five targets. Sophomore Scotty Johnson (West Chester, Ohio) also added two touchdown receptions.

The Hanover defense was relentless recording four sacks and 13 tackles for loss. 
 
The Panthers surged ahead in the first quarter traveling 74 yards on 13 plays for the score. Roudebush piloted the offense rushing ahead for four yards on a key third down that set up the go-ahead score. He found Johnson on the Olivet one-yard line to give HC the 7-0 lead.
 
The scoring frenzy ensued as Johnson went back-to-back on endzone visits. After a defensive stop that saw Olivet go three and out with 0 yards of offense, Roudebush found Jonhson for a 28-yard catch and score, 14-0.
 
Hanover's defense was the key factor in the first half as they held Olivet to less than 10-yards of total offense forcing five Comet punts. The Panthers continued to capitalize on the Olivet misfortune this time with Shelby finding the endzone. The sophomore connected with Roudebush for a 35-yard hookup, 21-0.
 
Senior Mason Williams (Fort Mitchell, Ky.) would cross the goal line for the final first half score as the senior snagged a three-yard pass for the touchdown. The play capped a 10 play, 49-yard drive.
 
The second half would see Shelby make his second endzone visit this time on a 10-yard catch and score. The drive took just six plays as a Roudebush to senior Jalen Peck (Bloomington, Ind.) 36-yard hookup landed the Panthers in Olivet territory. Shelby handled the rest navigate the Comet defense, 35-7.
 
Hanover found the endzone two final times in the fourth quarter this time with Malachi Parks under center. The senior finished the contest with 52-yards on five completions and two touchdowns.
 
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they celebrated Homecoming at Alumni Stadium with Mount St. Joseph. Game time is slated for 1:30 PM.
