Lexington, KY - The Hanover College men's basketball team took to the road for some conference-action yesterday at Transylvania University. The Panthers entered the contest at 6-6 and 1-4 in the HCAC, while the Pioneers sat at 6-6 overall with an HCAC record of 4-1.
In the first half the Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first minute of play - the Pios were able to continue building on this lead and through eight minutes the lead increased to eight at 15-7.
Hanover was able to string together a run of their own through the middle of the first half with a barrage of three-pointers from senior guard
Luke Miller, freshman forward
Jack Miller, freshman guard
Quentin Hesse, and senior guard
Kyle Crim.
Transy was able to go on another big scoring run in the final three minutes of the first half, and the Panthers trailed 40-28 heading into halftime.
The second half of play was overwhelmingly similar to the first as the Pioneers spent the first eight minutes increasing their lead from twelve points to twenty-two at 56-32.
HC was able to once again battle back and cut into the lead, cutting it down to just twelve again. Unfortunately it was just too-little-too-late and the Panthers fell 73-58 to the Pios.
Hanover will return to action this Saturday, January 11th, as they look host HCAC opponent Earlham College for a 3:00PM tip-off. HC looks forward to this game with an overall record of 6-7 and 2-4 in the HCAC while the Quakers sit at 0-13 and 0-6 in HCAC.
