Panthers 28 Point Second Quarter Drives Win Over MSJ

Box Score Cincinnati, OH - The Panthers (2-2 Overall, 1-0 HCAC) traveled to 2024 HCAC Champion Mt St Joseph University today and rolled to a 45 to 21 victory behind a dominant 31-7 first half.

Inside the Stats
Junior quarterback Eian Roudebush threw for 291 yards, completing 72% of his passes going 18 for 25; Roudebush totaled 3 TDs threw the air and picked up 3 on the ground as well along with 47 rushing yards.

On 15 attempts, junior running back Don Dunning lead the Panthers in rushing yards with 57, with a longest run of 13 yards and an average of 3.8 yards/carry.

Junior wideout Curbrian Shelby had a monster day for the Panthers with 124 receiving yards on 6 catches, including a receiving touchdown. Fellow junior WR Scotty Johnson also caught one of Roudebush's three passing touchdowns and totaled 76 yards on 6 catches.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior defensive back Saadiq Pasha lead the team in interceptions (1) and total tackles with 3 solo and 3 assisted tackles. Sophomore DB Brian Wall and junior DB George Marten also totaled 6 tackles a piece, on the same 2 solo and 4 assists splits.

Senior defensive lineman Jett Massey earned 5 total tackles on 3 solo and 2 assists, including 3 sacks for a total loss of 30 yards, and 1 forced fumble. Sophomore defensive back Kasey Hospelhorn and freshman defensive back Kane Powell-Smith contributed 4 total tackles each as well.

As a team, Hanover lapped the lions in nearly every statistical category including total first downs (25), total offense (443), and time of possession ( 37:21).

What Made the Difference
Hanover dominated both sides of the ball in the first half and executed particularly well on the offensive side of the ball. HC scored on seven straight drives (out of ten total) including three 80+ yard touchdown drives. The Panthers were able to do most of their damage in the second quarter, putting up 28 points and securing a 31-7 lead heading into half-time, all but guaranteeing an a early victory.
