Hanover Survives Anderson in Double Overtime

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (8-6-4 overall) claimed game one of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, defeating Anderson in Quarterfinal action in double overtime, 1-0.
 
INSIDE THE STATS
Junior Cam Horsley led the Panthers, claiming the game-winning goal on one shot in 96 minutes of action.
 
Sophomore Ginny Young claimed a game-high four shots, three of which landed on frame. Her teammate, Kaleigh Schirmer added three shots.
 
In frame, senior Emma Patterson charted two saves and the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a competitive regulation, the Panthers cranked up the intensity. The second overtime saw the Blue and Red push the tempo. After surrendering an Anderson shot, Hanover countered with Schirmer, placing a shot that just missed.
 
Time continued to tick down on the Panthers when sophomore Izzy Phillips fired a shot that struck the top cross bar. However, Horsely collected the deflection and found the back of the net with just 18 seconds remaining. Hanover finished the contest with a game-high 18 shots to the Ravens' four attempts.
 
Hanover advances to the HCAC Semifinals, traveling to Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday for a 7:00 PM start time.
