HOW IT HAPPENED
Berea looked to protect their home court, capitalizing on a series of Panther errors to claim a 9-7 lead. The Mountaineers were all attack when Waggoner landed a kill that tied the score at 11-11. The kill was just what Hanover needed to spark the offense; freshman
Kinzee Dean hit a service ace before a
Megan Vogel kill saw Hanover with a 19-17 difference. The rest was history as Hanover secured the 25-22 win on a Berea mishap.
The second set would see Berea once again take an advantage early, 5-3. However, Dean flipped the script at the service line, pushing the Panthers out front 8-5 on a 5-0 run. Robertson continued the surge with a trio of kills that extended the difference 12-6. Berea was able to cut the score to 21-20 when another Mountaineer mishap propelled HC to the 25-22 victory.
The final set was all Hanover, opening the set with a 6-0 surge that put HC in front 7-4. Senior
Elliot Mays paced the set with a kill and success at the service line to claim the 20-12 lead. Hanover scored the last five points for the straight set win.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday when it hosts the Ravens of Anderson.
