ANGOLA, Ind. – Hanover (7-3 overall) used impressive shooting to defeat non-conference opponent Olivet 70-51 as part of the Trine Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening frame was dominated by the Panthers as they pounced from the opening tip-off. Hanover used a 9-0 run led by freshman
Emerson Vlcan netting five straight points, to surge in front 11-2. Hanover finished the first frame shooting 53 percent from the floor as senior
Kaitlyn Lorenzi hit a free throw to propel the Blue and Red to a 23-13 advantage.
The second quarter saw the Comets of Olivet make a mid game push, pulling within 23-20. However, Hanover was able to combat the attack with fantastic mid-range play by junior
Sammy Berman. Senior
Alexis Wines helped Hanover push the lead back to double-figures using her speed to get to the rim. Hanover was lights out from the floor in the first half shooting 45 percent from the floor en route to a 39-29 halftime lead.
Hanover remained all gas in the second half, as Wines and Berman teamed up to give the Panthers an impressive 52-40 lead. The dynamic duo exchanged shots for assists in the third frame. The Panthers were able to out score the Comets in the final quarter, securing the non-conference win 70-51.

The Panthers landed three in double digits, led by
Alexis Wines with her second straight 20 point plus game, sixth of the season, scoring 23 points.
Berman netted 19 points while her teammate, Vlcan netted 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 21 when they take on Classic host Trine (RV) at 3:00 PM.
