Box Score Hanover, IN (Collier Arena) - Today, the Hanover College men's basketball team hosted the Franklin College Grizzlies for the naming and dedication of the Baylor Family Court in Collier Arena.
The game got off to a back-and-forth start as there were three lead changes and twelve total turnovers with each team giving the ball away six times. Hanover narrowly out shot the Grizzlies from the field 36% to 34%, despite going zero for six from behind the three point arc. Hanover also out rebounded Franklin 21 to 18 through the first half.
HC was lead by sophomore center
Malachi McNair in first half scoring with nine points. Sophomore forward
Jack Miller tagged on six points and junior guard Cj Walls also tagged on seven points. The Panthers lead heading into the halftime break 29 to 27.
In the second half, the intensity rose and both sides played with an even tougher edge. The atmosphere felt like a play-off game, Collier Arena was surging and the rally towels were flying.
Franklin was able to keep it close and managed to out shoot the Panthers in the second with 50% shooting from the field and 40% from three point land. Hanover's splits weren't far behind, but where the found their edge was at the free throw stripe.
HC attempted 23 total free throws and drained 19 of them in the second half, compared to Franklins 6 of 12. Hanover ultimately went on to win 74 to 65, pulling away at the end thanks to foul trouble.
Junior guard
CJ Walls lead the Panthers in scoring with 20 points, including three huge second-half three-pointers. Sophomore forward
Jack Miller also had a huge game with 10 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and a block.
HC moves to 4-3 on the season ahead of their next HCAC match-up, Manchester University. The game is set for 2:00PM on December 13th, in North Manchester, IN.
