Luke Miller Nets Career-High as Comeback Falls Short

HANOVER, Ind. – Senior Luke Miller (Madison, Ind.) netted a career-high as the comeback fell short in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action against Anderson on Wednesday evening inside the confines of Collier Arena, 84-81. Hanover moves to 14-9 overall, 10-6 HCAC.

Anderson held the upper hand when senior Luke Miller (Madison, Ind.) caught fire. The senior connected for a pair of back-to-back three-pointers that pulled HC within 14-12 at the 14:28 mark. The senior continued to make it rain as he pulled up from NBA range on back-to-back looks. His fourth three-pointer of the opening frame pulled Hanover within 22-20.

Despite the success from Luke Miller, Anderson also had great shooting numbers from long range using a three-pointer to extend the difference at the 6:00 minute mark, 29-24. The first half was very fast-paced as both teams pushed the tempo. Freshman Jack Miller (Madison, Ind.) benefited from the speed getting Hanover a transition layup. However, Anderson clung to a 39-33 halftime lead.

Anderson got the advantage to double-digits with a pair of scores, 44-33. Miller responded for Hanover with a corner pocket three-pointer at 18:19. The Panther defense got off to a slow start in the second half as the Ravens were able to teeter on the double-digit lead.

Trailing 57-41 with under 15 minutes remaining the Panthers looked to lock in. Sophomore William Herald (Fort Thomas, Ky.) looked to be the key as he displayed his range. The duo of Hillard and Miller were key down the stretch as Hanover erased a a62-46 deficit with 12:00 minutes remaining.

Herald hit a three-pointer at the 6:34 mark followed by a pair of Luke Miller free throws capping a key nine point run. With the crowd behind them, the Panthers were able cut the score to 75-74. Hanover knotted the contest 77-77 with 3:27 remaining when Anderson delivered another dagger. Luke surpassed his career-best with 36 seconds remaining draining his eighth three-pointer. Despite the unforgettable performance by Luke the Panthers fell short down the stretch.
