Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – Hanover (17-6 overall, 11-5 HCAC) secured a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win on Wednesday evening, defeating the Raven of Anderson 92-77.
The Panthers dominated the early minutes of the first quarter using an 8-0 run paced by senior
Kady Clancy (Scottsburg, Ind.) with five early points, 14-4. Junior
Kaitlyn Lorenzi (Brentwood, Tenn.) pushed the difference to double-digits at the 4:50 mark when momentum quickly shifted. The Ravens came soaring back with a 13-2 run that knotted the contest 22-22.
They captured their first lead moments into the second quarter before Hanover finally halted the attack. Senior
Grace Bezold (Covington, Ky.) hit a layup followed by a pair of sophomore
Sammy Berman (Independence, Ky.) free throws to put them back on top, 34-28. Lorenzi had the hot hand from three-point delivering back-to-back blows that helped propel them into the intermission with a 42-38 advantage. Bezold had 13 first half points.
Hanover reclaimed a double-digit lead in the third quarter scoring nine straight points capped by a junior
Alexis Wines (Lebanon, Ind. )three-pointer, 55-44. But like the first half, Anderson remained composed, cutting the score to 59-51. Bezold was clutch down the stretch recording a series of scores that kept Hanover in the driver's seat. They entered the final quarter with a commanding 73-58 advantage.
Berman tied her career-high of 19 points at the 9:02 mark in the fourth quarter pushing Hanover on top. Bezold nearly sealed the victory as she was consistent from the free throw line down the stretch. The senior finished with a game-high 29 points as Hanover secured the road win.
