Hanover Claims Senior Day Win Over Transylvania

Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (15-10 overall, 11-7 HCAC) celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday evening recognizing Kyle Crim (Manilla, Ind.), Michael Donoho (Rockport, Ind.), Luke Miller (Madison, Ind.), and Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.). The Panthers knocked off Transylvania 75-71 to secure home-court advantage on Saturday in the opening round of the HCAC Tournament.

The Panthers surged ahead with a 7-0 run that saw both sophomore CJ Walls (Louisville, Ky.) and Luke Miller sink three-pointers. The lead reached double-digits at the 16:04 mark with Miller sinking his second long-range ball. Despite the slow start, Transylvania hung around with a 9-0 run that cut the difference to 14-11.

Walls appeared unstoppable connecting for a corner three-pointer and a runner in the lane when freshman Jack Miller (Madison, Ind.) went coast-to-coast pushing Hanover back in front at the midway point, 21-11. The Pioneers quickly erased the deficit capitalizing on a Panther shooting drought. Transylvania held a slim 35-34 lead at the break despite 13 first-half points by Walls.

Senior Coleman Sater brought the energy in the second half playing tough against the Transylvania big man. His paint play opened the three-point shot for Walls as he connected for his fourth of the contest, 43-41. Sater dominated the paint recording four straight points including a tough basket and the bonus.

The HCAC season finale got chippy with home-court advantage on the line in the opening round of the tournament. The Pioneers claimed the lead briefly before Luke Miller splashed home a three-pointer. In the opening 10 minutes of the second half, Sater scored 14 points to keep HC in front 56-50.

The brother duo of freshman Jack Miller and Luke Miller provided back-to-back scores at 7:28 before another Sater basket pushed the Hanover advantage to 64-61. Luke Miller was all gas, draining a shot clock beating three-pointer from the foul line to erupt Collier Arena. The Pioneers pulled within 71-69 when Sater and Donoho secured the victory with a pair of late game scores.
