PREVIEW: Men's Basketball to Host Transylvania in HCAC Tournament

HANOVER, Ind. – The no. 4 seed Hanover men's basketball team is set to tip-off the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday at 5:00 PM, welcoming the no. 5 seed Transylvania Pioneers to Collier Arena.
 
THE HCAC TOURNAMENT MATCH-UPS:
No. 8 seed Manchester at no. 1 seed Anderson, 3 PM
no. 7 seed Berea at no. 2 Franklin, 4 PM
No. 6 seed Mt. St. Joseph at no. 3 seed Rose-Hulman, 4 PM
No .5 seed Transylvania no. 4 seed Hanover, 5 PM
 
TICKET INFORMATION:
Admission to all rounds of the tournament - $10 for adults.
 
Admission is free for children under 11 and all students/faculty/staff from HCAC institutions (School IDs required)
 
No pass lists are permitted for HCAC Tournaments.
 
THE MATCH-UP: (All Stats Based on the Two Game Series)
Hanover and Transylvania square off for the third time this season with the series tied 1-1. Transylvania claimed the 73-58 win on Wednesday, Jan. 8 while Hanover welcomed the Pioneers on Tuesday, Feb. 18 defeating them 75-71.
 
Senior Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) enters the contest averaging 14.0 ppg against the Pioneers. Senior Luke Miller (Madison, Ind.) is just shy of the team's best at 13.0 ppg.
 
Leading the Pioneers in the series is Hunter Penn at 14.5 ppg. Transylvania has three individuals averaging double-digit scoring against the Blue and Red – Penn, Colby Napier (12.5 ppg), and Drew Marshall (11.5 ppg).
 
Transylvania holds the slight scoring advantage averaging 72.0 ppg while the Panthers are at 66.5 ppg. The Pioneers also have the advantage on the boards pulling in 38.5 rpg while Hanover is recording 32.5 rpg.
 
HCAC STATISTICS: (Based on All of the 2024-2025 Contests)
Hanover ranks third in points per game allowed (70.8) and third in margin of victory (2.8).
 
Sater leads the HCAC in field goal percentage at 65.6 percent.
 
Luke Miller ranks in the top 10 in three-point field goals per game, averaging 2.3.
 
Sophomore Cam Freeman (Indianapolis, Ind.) leads the HCAC in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.6 while also ranking fifth in the league in assists per game at 3.8.
 
ALL TOO FAMILIAR:

For the second year in a row, The Pioneers and Panthers will square off in the HCAC Tournament. Hanover claimed the contest knocking off Transylvania 78-64 as part of the Semifinals on a neutral floor.
 
Since the 2018-19 season, these two programs have met four times with Hanover winning three out of the four matchups.
