Fayetteville, NC- The Panthers (0-1 overall) opened their season against the University of Maryland Washington Eagles. Unfortunately, Hanover was not able to come out of the game with a win losing 10-2.
On The Mound
Junior
John Girard (Richmond, Ky.) started the game and pitched a strong five and 2/3 innings striking out six and only giving up two earned runs. Freshman
Wyatt Colvin (Prospect, Ky.) came into relief for his first college appearance and threw two innings with a strikeout.
At The Plate
The offense stayed quiet in their opener only recording two hits, the first coming from senior
Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) who hit a solo home run in the 7th inning and the second from the bat of senior Dave Newbanks (New Albany, Ind.).
The Panthers of Hanover look to bounce back on Sunday taking on Hartford University at 10 AM.
