Collinsworth Reaches Milestone; Panthers Sweep Bluffton

HANOVER, Ind. – Head Coach Cori Collinsworth claimed her 100th career win as the Panthers (6-10 overall, 2-0 HCAC) swept the Beavers of Bluffton to open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
 
GAME ONE
IN THE CIRCLE

Senior Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) claimed the win in the circle, picking up her second in less than a week. She pitched a complete game with five strikeouts allowing two runs on six hits.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bluffton Beavers claimed the early 2-0 lead before the Panther offense erupted.
 
In the bottom of the fifth inning, freshman Ashley Fulton (Hanover, Ind.) delt a double that scored the first Hanover run. The scoring continued as freshman Meghan Mader (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded her first collegiate home run to push the Panthers on top 3-2.
 
The Blue and Red secured the win in the sixth inning as Fulton, Beaman, and sophomore LauRie Harmless (Coatesville, Ind.) also collected an RBI, 7-2.
 
GAME TWO
IN THE CIRCLE

Freshman Lulu Van Beek (Noblesville, Ind.) collected the game two win, throwing a complete game.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Hanover dominated in the night cap using a one run first inning and a three run third inning to surge ahead 4-1.
 
The bottom of the fourth inning saw the Panthers blow the contest wide open. Fulton used a single to right field scoring a run before a Beaman double added two more runs. With all the momentum, freshman Addison Smith (Jeffersonville, Ind.) provided a clutch hit through the left side that saw HC in control, 11-3.
 
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 5 when they travel to Earlham.
