RICHMOND, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (7-11 overall, 3-1 HCAC) earned a split on Sunday afternoon at Earlham, winning game one 3-1 before surrendering game two 7-0.
GAME ONE
IN THE CIRCLE
Senior
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) pitched a complete game, surrendering one run on four hits with 11 strikeouts. She faced 27 batters throwing 129 pitches.
AT THE DISH
Hanover struck first in the top of the third inning, scoring three runs on two hits. Freshman
Ashley Fulton (Hanover, Ind.) started the run party with a single to shortstop, scoring sophomore
Olivia Planck (Lexington, Ky.). The final two runs of the inning came from the bat of Beaman, who doubled to right field, 3-0.
Earlham plated one run in the sixth inning before Beaman retired the side and secured her fourth win.
GAME TWO
IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman
Lulu Van Beek (Noblesville, Ind.) got the start, throwing three complete innings giving up four runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
Senior
Megan Ekart (Scottsburg, Ind.) pitched relief, adding a strikeout.
AT THE DISH
The Panther offense tallied four hits in game two with a walk. Earlham used a three run third inning to surge ahead and secure the doubleheader split.
Hanover returns to action on Thursday, April 10, when they travel to Transylvania. The first pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 5:00 PM.
