Hanover Celebrates Senior Day; Earns HCAC Split with Manchester

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (10-18 overall, 6-8 HCAC) secured a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference split on Senior Day, winning game one over Manchester 6-5 before dropping game two 5-3.

GAME ONE
IN THE CIRCLE

Senior Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) started in the circle, throwing three complete innings with a strikeout. Megan Ekart pitched relief, claiming the win, striking out three.
 
AT THE DISH
Hanover used a five run second inning to claim the 5-0 advantage. Junior Jade Wims led the charge, singling to right field, scoring Beaman. Olivia Planck tailled the final RBI of the inning, scoring freshman Addison Smith.
 
Manchester was able to erase the difference, scoring four runs in the fourth inning to knot the contest 5-5.
 
The Panthers would capitalize on a Spartan hiccup in the seventh inning as pinch hitter Lily Cunagin provided a two out RBI for the win.
 
GAME TWO
AT THE PLATE

Manchester surged ahead 1-0 in the top of the second inning when Hanover responded. Beman crushed a triple to right field, scoring on a Smith single through the left side 1-1.
 
The Panthers continued to play from behind as the Spartans added another run in the third inning. Freshman Ashley Fulton (Hanover, Ind.) used a warning track double in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 2-2.
 
The Spartans tacked on one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to push the lead to 5-2.
 
Hanover plated one run in the bottom of the fifth inning off the bat of Fulton, who connected for an RBI to centerfield.
 
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, April 30 when they host Franklin at Kops-Bedel Stadium.
