HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers return to action this weekend when they hit the road for non-conference action at Alma. Game time from Alma, Mich. Is slated for 1:00 PM.
THE MATCH-UP
Hanover and Alma square off for just the third time since 2000, with the series tied at 1-1. The Panthers claimed the 2000 contest by a score of 25-7. The Scouts knotted the series in 2001 by topping the Panthers 56-14.
HCAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
After an impressive performance against Division I foe Butler, sophomore
Brian Wall and freshman
Nick Stoner were awarded Conference recognition. Wall was named the HCAC Defensive Player of the Week, while teammate
Nick Stoner was selected the HCAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Wall paced a strong defensive effort, collecting 15 total tackles, including 11 solo stops. He was a member of a defense that allowed just one touchdown. The sophomore added a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
Stoner had a great afternoon, punting for 259 yards on six punts, averaging 43.2 per punt. He had one punt surpass 50 yards.
LAST WEEK
The Panthers competed against Butler last week, falling to the Bulldogs 16-7. Junior
Eian Roudebush threw for 109 yards and one touchdown.
Curbrian Shelby was his top target with three receptions for 59 yards and a score.
Brian Wall led the defensive effort with a game-high 15 tackles, including 11 solo stops.
HCAC STAT LEADERS
The Hanover defense enters the weekend ranked first in fewest touchdowns allowed (5) and fewest points allowed (39).
Stoner ranks first in the league, averaging 43.8 yards per punt and first in total punt yards (350).
Wall leads the conference in solo stops (16), tied for first in total stops (22), and tied for first in tackles per game (11.0).
HCAC ACTION
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 4 when Hanover hits the road for Rose-Hulman. Game time is slated for 2:00 PM.
