Columbus, OH - The Panthers traveled to Columbus, OH to take part in the Capital Invite, playing a double-header, taking on Allegheny College and Capital University.
HC came up short in their first match-up against Allegheny College in a five-set battle. Hanover matched the Gators 63 kills, but fell behind in the aces and blocks columns on the stat sheet, and that ultimately decided the game. Hanover was lead by senior
Kelsey Waggoner (15) and junior
Abbey McCoy (14) in total kills, while junior
Megan Vogel (25) and sophomore
Brooke Gervers (24) lead the team in total assists, and senior
Elliot Mays (3) lead the team in solo blocks.Â
After a short intermission, the Panthers regrouped and bounced back hard in their second game against Capital University, winning three straight sets by margins of 26 to 24, 25 to 12, and 25 to 9. Hanover handled the Comets with ease, sweeping them in every category on the stat sheet. HC tallied 37 kills, 10 aces, 5 blocks, 33 asssists, and 46 digs through the three sets.
Junior
Abbey McCoy (14) lead the Panthers in kills against Capital, and junior
Megan Vogel (19) was dishing out dimes once again, leading the team in total assists. Sophomore
Madison Schicker (5) was the team leader in serves aced, and freshman
Molly Welborn (10) topped the digs column.
HC suits up again tomorrow for two more games in Columbus, OH - taking on Stevenson University at Noon EST, and Centre College right after at 2:00PM.
