LEXINGTON, Ky. – Hanover (8-5 overall, 2-4 HCAC), paced by senior
Kaitlyn Lorenzi, surrendered a midseason Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference battle at Transylvania on Wednesday evening, 70-61.

Hanover was led by Lorenzi with a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Lily Ernstes added 10 points and six boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers looked to bounce back on Wednesday evening hitting the road for an HCAC test at Transylvania. In a highly contested first frame the Pioneers claimed the slight edge 24-13. The Panther offense got key scores from senior
Alexis Wines as well as jumper from sophomore
Abbie Beard.
The second quarter saw the two teams go basket for basket as Lorenzi created offensive opportunities for the Blue and Red. The senior netted a pair of runners in the lane before freshman
Emerson Vlcan displayed her strength in the paint, 34-19. The Pioneers clung to a 44-31 halftime difference.
After some halftime adjustments, the Panthers came out roaring in the third frame with a five point rally capped by a Ernstes jumper that cut the difference to 46-38 at the midway point. Ernstes remained the hot hand finishing with six points in the period.
Hanover battled through the fourth quarter with the duo of Lorenzi and Ernstes pacing the way. Hanover cut the score to 69-53 with just under three minutes remaining. The late game surge ensued as Hanover tallied 10 straight points to close out the contest, falling 70-61.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 10 when they travel to Richmond, Ind. to take on the Quakers of Earlham. Game time is slated for 1:00 PM.
